About

HI! 👋
My name is Dave York. I'm a dad, a nerd, a maker, and a Staff DevOps Engineer specializing in AI/ML infrastructure. I live outside Pittsburgh, PA with my wife Lindsay and our four kids.
My day job is building the infrastructure that lets AI/ML systems actually work in production — Kubernetes, Knative, CI/CD pipelines, the plumbing that keeps everything running. I've been doing DevOps for about 20 years across defense tech, autonomous vehicles, fintech, and now AI.
Outside of work I build things. Some highlights: a remote-controlled lawn mower built from mobility scooter parts that's been running for two years, a computer vision system that automatically closes the chicken coop when all the chickens are inside, and a persistent AI memory system I call continuous-context that gives Claude long-term memory and actually learns over time. That last one turned into something I'm genuinely proud of.
I spend a lot of time thinking about the infrastructure around AI — not just the models themselves, but what it takes to make AI actually useful as a long-term collaborator. That's what most of the writing here is about.
When I'm not building things I'm probably camping somewhere, bothering my cats, or going down a rabbit hole I have no business being in.
You can find my code on Github. Thanks for visiting.
